Community Focus International (CFI) Uganda is honored to host Bob Gilbert, Chair of the CFI-USA Board, for an inspiring one week field visit across Uganda. The trip marks a vital opportunity to strengthen program alignment, program impact, and engage directly with local staff and community beneficiaries who are driving grassroots transformation.
The visit commenced at CFI’s office in Lira, where Bob met with the Ugandan operational team for an interactive session. The discussions centered on strategic achievements, operational milestones, and expanding CFI’s inclusive development programs across Uganda. The staff shared insights into on-the-ground challenges and successes, reinforcing the strong collaborative foundation between CFI and its partners.
Following the team engagements, Bob embarked on a multi district field visit to meet beneficiaries across the program areas. A central highlight of the journey has been witnessing the impact of CFI’s vocational training and financial inclusion initiatives targeting young women and displaced populations with disabilities and their care givers. In the Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement, Bob connected with young refugee girls enrolled in skilling programs, praising their resilience and passion for learning despite facing complex displacement hurdles.
The momentum continued into Kole District, where beneficiaries showcased how technical skills, paired with Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLA), are unlocking financial independence. Bob was particularly impressed to meet young women who have already accessed small loans through their VSLA groups to establish thriving micro enterprises, creating immediate economic stability for their families and communities.
As the field visit progresses, the final leg of the visit will take Bob to Oyam District, where he will meet with local community groups, program participants, and leaders to observe ongoing field projects. The insights gathered throughout this week long visit will help shape future strategy and deepen joint efforts to expand life changing opportunities across Uganda.
