VISION
A better world in which all children, women and youth realize their full potential in communities that respect people’s rights and dignity.
MISSION
To focus on providing sustainable improvements in the quality of life of deprived children, vulnerable women and youth through a process that creates social inclusion, unity and adds meaningful value to lives.
OUR CORE VALUES
Community Focus International (CFI) is guided by the five core values.
Integrity:
We believe that integrity is the foundation of our Christian character. Character is not inherited but is built daily by the way one thinks and acts, thought by thought, action by action
Innovation and adaptability:
Our creativity and community development theory is focused on the most vulnerable especially People with Disability and we value them.
Team building and Team work:
“We are a group of people who are interdependent concerning information, resources, and skills, we seek to combine our efforts to achieve a common goal”
Equity and fairness:
Nothing for us without us, going beyond vulnerability. We believe in treating all people as we would like to be treated. We believe that people will feel valued and appreciated when we regard them with dignity and respect.
Rotational Leadership:
We believe in a team-based approach to leadership. We invest in leaders and train them to realize their full potential as well as giving them tools and opportunities to be effective leaders. We believe healthy leaders produce healthy communities.
The Founding of CFI
Ben, Founder and Executive Director grew up in an Internally Displaced Person Camp (IDP) in Northern Uganda during the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) insurgency that lasted for over twenty years. Ben lost four classmates in one day due to the LRA insurgency. The memory is still fresh in Ben’s mind as he said “My friend Odongo was still talking after the rebels had hit his head and smashed it in. The image of my friend is still fresh as neighbors tied him on a papyrus mat to put him on a bicycle to rush him to the hospital, but he died on the way”. To date, Northern Uganda has never fully recovered from the twenty-year insurgency and people who were maimed, raped and orphaned still suffer. Ben founded CFI with a passion for helping vulnerable children and adults with disabilities and their household members.
We believe that progress is only real when it is inclusive. For nearly a decade, we have served as a profound force for development across Uganda, dedicated to improving the quality of life for deprived children, vulnerable women, and youth. Our mission transcends borders and backgrounds. We are proud to serve both Ugandan nationals and our brothers and sisters in refugee settlements, fostering a spirit of unity that adds meaningful value to every life we touch. For the past two years, CFI has deeply integrated refugee populations into our core initiatives. By working directly within settlement areas, we ensure that displaced families have the same access to self-sufficiency as the host communities surrounding them. Our ongoing commitment is reflected in our five core values.
