Our Commitment to Inclusive Development

Community Focus International (CFI) collaborates with a diverse array of international and local partners, guided by our comprehensive strategic plan and core values outlined in our organizational profile. Our mission is to foster inclusive community development, ensuring equitable access to essential services such as education for Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) and beyond

Program Areas

CFI is dedicated to advancing knowledge and understanding in four key program areas detailed in our Strategic Plan 2023 – 2027. We aim to drive positive change through research, innovation, and collaboration and create meaningful impact in these critical sectors.

Assistive Technology Devices

CFI enriches the lives of persons with disabilities by making customised wheelchairs, to promote independent mobility. Through this initiative, CFI fosters inclusivity and accessibility in communities, empowering individuals to navigate their surroundings with ease and dignity.

Inclusive Education

In rural Oyam and Lira, CFI advocates for inclusive education, uniting all children in shared classrooms regardless of ability. Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 4, this commitment ensures equitable access to education for diverse learners, including those with disabilities and from marginalized backgrounds, fostering inclusive learning environments for all.

Health & WASH

To promote Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights among adolescents and young people, CFI empowers them with the knowledge and skills to make healthy choices and contribute to positive outcomes for their health and well-being. We are involved in Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights using Peer Educators and the Village Health Team approach in reaching out to adolescents and young people.

Socio-Economic Empowerment

CFI champions socio-economic empowerment for Persons With Disabilities, vital for fostering inclusivity and fulfilling lives. Through innovative methods like Village Savings and Loan Associations and the Piggery approach, CFI facilitates economic independence, ensuring Persons With Disabilities have equal opportunities to thrive within their communities.

Wheelchairs

72% of Person’s With Disability (PWD’s) in Nothern Uganda live in Chronic Poverty

CFI provides wheelchairs to facilitate mobility for students with disabilities to and from school and for persons with disabilities to move and engage in economic opportunities within their communities. Some wheelchairs for adults are fabricated locally in Uganda at the cost of $300 (incl. medical assessments).

Alternative Basic Education (ABE)

The main objective is to enhance literacy and numeracy outcomes among children in rural areas by forming strong partnerships for Alternative Basic Education (ABE) and integrating innovative approaches like Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) and Play-based Experiential Education (PE&E).

Extend a Helping Hand

We invite well-wishers to join us in this important mission of the Mercy Coalition Project, extending a helping hand to those in need and building a stronger, more resilient community for all. Together, we can bridge the gap of hunger and ensure that no one goes without the basic necessities of life.
